Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District
With an updated plan, MRPC is assisting the solid waste management district to implement its solid waste management plan and also provide administration services to the district on a contractual basis. Staff is available to meet with cities, counties and industries needing more information or specific technical assistance in solid waste management, including recycling and waste reduction.
Hazardous Materials Planning
Through contract, MRPC provides administrative services to the Meramec Regional Emergency Planning Committee, an advisory committee charged with preparing, updating, and distributing a hazardous materials emergency response plan for the region. This committee also provides training for emergency responders, and MRPC coordinates this effort.
Flood Plain Administration
MRPC has a certified flood plain manager and offers these services to cities and counties for a fee.
Environmental Resource Center
This is an environmental library established by MRPC and the Ozark Rivers Solid Waste Management District. It is located in the MRPC building and includes books, magazines, and curriculum on environmental issues.
MRPC serves as the administrator of the Region I Homeland Security Oversight Committees, a 14-member volunteer group whose purpose is to establish strategies and priorities at the regional level for grant funding programs and other homeland security initiatives. One of the main functions of the group is to allocate grant dollars for homeland security needs within Region I and to represent the six-county area on statewide homeland security committees. Region I includes Crawford, Dent, Maries, Phelps, Pulaski and Laclede counties, the six counties within Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop I. The group meets quarterly at MRPC.
Staff has experience in the preparation of Hazard Mitigation Plans and Local Emergecy Operations Plans (LEOP).
