ST. JAMES—Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC), in conjunction with the Central District Coalition for Roadway Safety, is now accepting project graduation/docudrama grants until March 12 at 5:00 p.m. The grant can be used to help with costs for project graduation activities or to host a docudrama for schools in Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties.

Project Graduation grants can receive up to $200 in grant funds and $100 in give-away incentives that promote roadway safety. Docudrama grants can request up to $300 in grant funds. Additionally, docudrama assistance can be provided by MRPC. Schools who have participated in past coalition events will be given preference, if funds are limited.

“These grants give schools and parent-volunteers the opportunity to provide safe, educational events for students, especially seniors,” said Bonnie Prigge, executive director of MRPC and a member of the Central District Coalition. “Highway fatalities in Missouri are running extremely high, so it is important that we take time to remind our young drivers of the importance of focusing on the road by buckling up, putting the phone down and avoiding activities that would impair their driving or distract them.”

The application form can be found at www.meramecregion.org/career-and-business-opportunities/grant-opportunities/
