ST. JAMES—Local elected officials, businesses, non-profits and interested residents are invited to Meramec Regional Planning Commission’s (MRPC) Meramec Morning meeting in Gasconade County at 9 a.m. on March 28 in the basement meeting room of First State Community Bank, 308 W. Lincoln Ave. Owensville.

MRPC staff will overview the services that MRPC provides and then will ask for community input on needs in Gasconade County, as well as, issues impacting local governments and residents.

“These meetings are important because they allow MRPC staff to gain insight into the needs of the communities that we serve,” Kelly Sink-Blair, MRPC’s planning and development manager said. “If we understand the needs of the communities, we can better assist in helping them address those needs.”

The information will also be used in the update of MRPC’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDs).

Previously, MRPC has been able to assist Gasconade County and the cities of Owensville, Hermann and Bland on a variety of projects including grant writing, grant administration, special waste collections, hazard mitigation planning, and more.

All interested parties are encouraged to attend, bringing their questions and concerns for staff to hear.

Formed in 1969, MRPC is a voluntary council of governments serving Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties and their respective cities. A professional staff of 23, directed by the MRPC board, offers technical assistance and services, such as grant preparation and administration, housing assistance, transportation planning, environmental planning, ordinance codification, business loans and other services to member communities.
