ST. JAMES—Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) elected a new slate of officers at its May 15 board meeting. For the 2025-2026 year, Osage County Presiding Commissioner Darryl Griffin was elected chairman and Phelps County Presiding Commissioner Joey Auxier was elected vice chairman. Waynesville Mayor Sean Wilson was elected secretary, and Jason Ward representative for the city of Steelville was elected treasurer. Griffin, previously vice chairman, replaces Mary Heywood, representative for the Unemployed, who had served two consecutive terms as chairman, the most allowed under MRPC by-laws. New officers assumed their duties with the June 12 meeting.
Formed in 1969, MRPC is a voluntary council of governments serving Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties and their respective cities. Osage County Presiding Commissioner Darryl Griffin serves as chairman of the board. A professional staff of 24 offers technical assistance and services, such as grant preparation and administration, housing assistance, transportation planning, environmental planning, ordinance codification, business loans and other services to member communities.
