MRDC, SBA hosts loan workshop in Potosi May 2

ST. JAMES—Meramec Regional Development Corporation and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) are partnering to offer a small business loan workshop about local resources from 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, May 2 at the Washington County Library, 235 E. High St., Potosi. Maria Bancroft, business loans specialist with MRPC, will also present on specific programs available in the region.

The workshop is designed to inform entrepreneurs, small business owners and stakeholders – including government and community organizations – about all the federal services and programs, including lending products and resources powered by the SBA, that are available in the area.

MRDC is a 501 (C) 3 not-for-profit corporation that is also a Small Business Administration Certified Development Company (CDC), serving primarily Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Pulaski, Phelps and Washington counties. MRDC is made up of community leaders and lenders who volunteer their time to review projects that result in job creation for the Meramec Region. Meramec Regional Planning Commission provides staffing for MRPC and handles the day-to-day duties, including loan packaging, closing and servicing and program marketing.

Formed in 1969, MRPC is a voluntary council of governments serving Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties and their respective cities. Gasconade County Presiding Commissioner Larry Miskel serves as chairman of the board. A professional staff of 26 offers technical assistance and services, such as grant preparation and administration, housing assistance, transportation planning, environmental planning, ordinance codification, business loans and other services to member communities.
