The Gasconade Valley Enterprise Zone Board will have a short business meeting at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at the The Café Company, 527 E. Washington Avenue, Owensville, Mo. The meeting will be followed by a short reception and then dinner, with an informational presentation on Enhanced Enterprise Zones. The reception and dinner is hosted by GVEZ in celebration of the holiday season and a networking and learning opportunity for our board, local governments, contributors and our newly formed Enhanced Enterprise Zone boards.

Dinner Presentation: 6:30 p.m .—A Primer on Enhanced Enterprise Zones: What’s Next?

• Welcome and Overview: Byron Baker, GVEZ president

• Enhanced Enterprise Zone presentation: Luke Holtschneider and Carol Shoemaker, Missouri Department of Economic Development. From the company expansion perspective, Luke will discuss the incentives available through enhanced enterprise zones, how a company qualifies and applies and what they must do to receive the incentive, and Carol will discuss the verification/certification of the incentives. From a board perspective, Carol will discuss the role and responsibilities of the EEZ board, annual reporting and other requirements. There will be time for questions and answers.

• GVEZ’s role in the New EEZs: Bonnie Prigge, Meramec Regional Planning Commission

Bonnie will discuss the opportunity for GVEZ to serve as an umbrella organization for the four EEZs and the bylaws changes that have been made to integrate EEZs into GVEZ. GVEZ’s efforts would include marketing and fund-raising, verification and reporting, joint meetings, project coordination and eventually, staffing. Bonnie will also discuss the sunshine law and company confidentiality.
