WRIGHT CITY—Contractors are needed for home repair work in Wright City at Liberty Garden Senior Housing Complex. The Federal Home Loan Bank-Des Moines (FHLB) has awarded Liberty Garden a grant to remodel the senior housing complex.

Meramec Regional Planning Commission (MRPC) in St. James, Mo, is administering the grant. The grant will allow the senior housing board to hire contractors to renovate 20 one-bedroom housing units at the complex, creating safer, healthier homes for residents. The potential scope of the project will include replacing sidewalks, roofs, windows, kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, toilet stools, entry doors, storm doors, floor coverings, range hoods, siding, soffit, fascia, and guttering. Contractors are needed to make these renovations and are asked to complete a contractor application prior to bidding.

For more information on an application, contact Gary O’Day or Chuck Cantrell at 573-265-2993 or goday@meramecregion.org or ccantrell@meramecregion.org. Applications can also be found online here.

A walk-through will be scheduled for interested contractors to view work to be done in the near future, prior to submitting bids. The Liberty Garden board will review bids and select contractors to perform the work.

The Liberty Garden units were built in 1978 using funds from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development.

The Liberty Garden board partnered with MRPC on the grant, totaling $350,480. MRPC will serve as administrator and inspector on the project.

Formed in 1969, MRPC is a voluntary council of governments serving Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties and their respective cities.
