MRCF taking applications for community grants
Deadline Feb. 29

ST. JAMES — The Meramec Regional Community Foundation (MRCF) has initiated its community grantmaking program, which is open to programs and organizations in the Meramec Region counties of Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington. Grant requests for 2012 are due by 5 p.m. Feb. 29, 2012.

The purpose of the grant program is to address local needs that will enhance the quality of life within the community and region. Five grants will be awarded for $250 each. Non-profit, 501(c)3 organizations, schools, faith-based organizations and governmental entities are eligible to apply for the grants. The grants will be awarded March 15, 2012.

MRCF is an outgrowth of the Meramec Regional Planning Commission and is an affiliate of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, Springfield. MRCF was established in May 2010 through a donation from MRPC and serves Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties outside of existing CFO affiliate areas.

Each county in the Meramec Region is represented on the board.

CFO is a public foundation and supports asset development, community-based grant making, organizational collaboration and leadership initiatives throughout southern Missouri. CFO is comprised of 40 affiliate community foundations and more than 1,100 charitable funds totaling more than $127.5 million.
