JAMES—The 10 Steps to Homeownership will be presented from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 16 at the Washington County Library, 253 E. High St., Potosi, MO. The free homeownership workshop is presented by Meramec Regional Planning Commission, in cooperation with the Meramec Community Enhancement Corporation and the Phelps County PHA Family Self-Sufficiency Program. Chuck Cantrell and Tammy Rigsby of Meramec Regional Planning Commission will cover the 10 steps to homeownerhip, starting with a homebuyer’s first meeting with a Realtor to the closing on the purchase. Cantrell is a community development specialist. Rigsby is a Family Self-Sufficiency coordinator and senior housing coordinator. The Oct. 16 class is offered at no cost, on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-registration is requested. Persons interested in purchasing their own home may benefit from the information. MRPC is an active, voluntary council of local governments serving Crawford, Dent, Gasconade, Maries, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski and Washington counties.
