MRPC, Gasconade County
to Host Hazard Mitigation Plan Update Meeting Dec. 18

Meramec Regional Planning Commission, in partnership with Gasconade County, will begin the updating of the Gasconade County Hazard Mitigation Plan with a plan review meeting at 8:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 18 at Gasconade County Courthouse in Hermann. MRPC staff will explain requirements of the plan update, as set forth by state and federal governments. The group will review portions of the existing plan and will begin looking at items that have been accomplished over the past five years and discuss projects that need to be considered for the next five years.

The county must have an approved hazard mitigation plan in order for Gasconade County schools, cities, agencies and others to access state hazard mitigation grant funds. Additionally, projects requesting grant funds must be included in the plan. City and county officials, school leaders, emergency management agencies and interested individuals are encouraged to attend the meeting. For more information, contact Tonya Price at MRPC, 573-265-2993.
